What We Help With
Every service below is one-time, up to 5 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no recurring contract required. If you need help for more than one visit, reach out and we'll see what's possible.
At your preference, we can wear a uniform or plain clothing during your visit, whichever you're more comfortable with.
Closing the Gap Between Aides
When a regular home health aide is running late, calls out sick, or there's a gap between shifts, that stretch of time can leave someone waiting alone who shouldn't have to. We step in for exactly that window, whether it's an hour or several, so care doesn't lapse and there's someone present until the regular help arrives or the day is covered.
Personal Care Assistance
PCA-level personal care, provided by a certified Home Health Aide, is part of what we offer, including help with toileting and bathing or showering, transferring (bed to chair, chair to standing), and assistance with exercises to help you stay active. This is provided with the same dignity and privacy as any home care visit.
Pre-poured or pre-sorted medications can be handed to you at the right time. Broader medication management is only taken on with your express permission and a signed service agreement on file beforehand. We can also change external catheter drainage bags (small to large or vice versa) and clean the surrounding area. Nurse-level medical care, such as injectable medications, wound care, tracheostomy care, feeding tubes, end-of-life narcotics (such as morphine), or other end-of-life care, is outside what we provide, as is catheter insertion or colostomy bag care of any kind.
Morning Routine & Bedside Care
Mornings are often the hardest part of the day to manage alone. That includes getting up safely, getting dressed, and easing into the day, at the pace it actually takes, without rushing anyone through it.
For clients who are bed-bound, this also covers bedside care and support.
Food Help
This covers grocery shopping and pickup, help preparing a meal, or simply a hand getting food ready and on the table. For anyone who finds cooking or shopping alone difficult, whether due to mobility, energy, or just not wanting to do it solo that day, this is straightforward, practical help around one of the most basic daily needs.
Errands & Appointment Accompaniment
Pharmacy pickups, small errands around town, or a ride and a friendly presence at a doctor's appointment. Having someone along to a medical visit means a second set of ears for what's discussed, and one less thing to navigate alone. This also covers accompanying someone to the emergency room or a hospital visit when a family member is unable to be present.
We hold a Class E license to transport individuals to and from appointments or other places they wish to go. Transportation is provided for up to two people. Our vehicle is not wheelchair accessible, but if you're able to walk without your walker or wheelchair, we're happy to bring it along in the trunk in case you need it once we arrive. An additional mileage fee applies.
Tech Help
Phone, tablet, or computer trouble, including setting up a video call with family, working through a confusing app, or fighting with a printer that won't cooperate. We sit down with you and work through it patiently, at whatever pace makes sense.
Light Housekeeping
A single tidy-up visit, including dishes, laundry, and straightening common areas, for when everyday upkeep has piled up and become too much to manage in one day. This is light, surface-level housekeeping, not a deep clean.
Companionship Visit
Sometimes what's needed most isn't a task at all, it's company. Conversation, a shared meal, or simply help passing a quiet afternoon with someone present.
General One-Time Help
Have a need that doesn't fit neatly into the categories above? If it's reasonable and falls within a single visit, up to 5 hours in a day, just ask. If it's something we can't help with directly, we'll do our best to point you toward someone who can.
What We Don't Do
Being upfront about limits matters just as much as being clear about what we offer. A few things fall outside what One Time Assist provides:
- — No heavy lifting
- — No deep cleaning
- — No furniture removal
- — No yard work
- — No nurse-level medical care, such as injectable medications, wound care, tracheostomy care, feeding tubes, end-of-life narcotics (such as morphine), or other end-of-life care
- — No catheter insertion or colostomy bag care of any kind
- — No cleanup after pets or animals, unless specifically arranged in advance
